Back in 2022 a fully CGI feature costing a whopping 3.5 million euros was announced by various blogs and websites. Naturally we also talked about it in an article. Produced by program33 and distributed by Arte Distribution, L'affaire Jeanne d'Arc boasts a massive 1h36m runtime, and besides the original French version it's stated to have both English and German dubs. The original version premiered December 19, 2023 on French television and can now be streamed here, or even purchased in DVD here, while we remain on the lookout for the English dub version. A good deal of promotional material has been released in the months prior to the premiere, including a trailer
...and an extensive making-of video, where various artists who have worked on the project talk about the technical intricacies involved in bringing the script to life.
While we can't comment on the quality of the writing until the English version is released, we can certainly acknowledge the work done by the artists over at program33: the animation looks fluid, rich, and overall gorgeous. Everything shown in the trailer looks and feels alive and vibrant. We'll update this article once we know more.
